Apex Tier Ranked Reset: A Necessary Evil or a Misguided Move?

As an avid Apex player, I was intrigued by the recent announcement of a hard reset for the Master+ ranked ladder. The decision to reset the ranks of players in specific regions has sparked a lot of discussion and debate within the community. While some see it as a necessary step to restore ladder integrity, others are concerned about the impact it will have on the overall gameplay experience.

In my opinion, the reset is a double-edged sword. On one hand, it addresses the issues of volatility and inconsistency that have plagued the Apex ladder since the start of the year. The constant fluctuations in rank and MMR have made it difficult for players to climb and maintain their position, undermining the ladder's integrity. By resetting the ranks, the developers are taking a bold step to create a more level playing field for everyone.

However, I can't help but wonder if this move is a bit extreme. A hard reset mid-season is disruptive to the climbing experience, and it may take several months for the ladder to stabilize. The trade-off between ladder integrity and fairer games is a delicate balance, and I'm not sure if the developers have struck the right note. Personally, I think a more gradual approach could have been taken, with smaller adjustments to the matchmaking system and LP gains.

One thing that immediately stands out is the impact of the reset on Apex tier Ranked rewards. With the shorter Season and the reset, it will be harder for players to reach their peak rank in time. The developers have acknowledged this and plan to give out Season 1 rewards as usual, with Season 3 serving as a final reconciliation pass for Season 2 rewards. However, I can't help but feel that this is a bit of a band-aid solution, and it may not fully address the underlying issues.

From my perspective, the reset is a necessary evil. It's a bold move that addresses the issues of volatility and inconsistency in the Apex ladder. However, it's not without its drawbacks, and it may take some time for the ladder to stabilize. As an Apex player, I'm curious to see how the community reacts to this decision and whether it will ultimately lead to a healthier and more enjoyable Ranked experience.
